Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered into a search tool is sent directly to the third-party company operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies the result; we do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We may retain a message sent to us long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is legally required.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our systems automatically receive basic technical details when a page loads, including:
- Page-view timestamps
- Pages visited and approximate time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Your device's IP address
- Browser name and version
- The referring website, when available
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device to help us understand traffic patterns, such as popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers combine this usage information for reporting. A browser can block cookies, although doing so may change how parts of the site function.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing search requests to the appropriate partner service
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Operating, maintaining, and improving site performance
- Understanding which pages visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The site explains how to request Keweenaw County information from the Sheriff's Office, the 97th District Court, the 12th Circuit Court, Michigan State Police, and the Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry. Michigan FOIA, MCL 15.231–15.246, governs disclosure by public bodies, while public ICHAT information is limited by Michigan's criminal-history dissemination framework. Neither makes this private site a records custodian. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal profiles.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the site's search boxes. Information submitted there is handled under the selected partner's privacy policy, and the partner determines its own retention and disclosure practices. Read that policy before running a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Michigan agencies, Keweenaw County offices, courts, legal-aid resources, or commercial search services. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy terms control. Review them before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to follow activity across websites and select targeted advertisements.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may nevertheless be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners processing queries submitted through their tools
- Advertising networks serving material on the site
- Government or law-enforcement bodies when disclosure is compelled by a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
We use customary safeguards for the information we collect. No internet system can be guaranteed completely secure, however, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary with the law that applies where you live. Michigan FOIA, MCL 15.231–15.246, concerns records of public bodies rather than data held by this private site, and Michigan's criminal-history dissemination rules control what Michigan State Police may release through ICHAT. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Ask what personal information we maintain about you
- Object to certain forms of processing
- Request deletion of personal information
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy. Any revision will be posted here with an updated effective date, so visitors should review the page periodically.
Effective date: July 28, 2026
